Bear Walk Board Game {FREE}

This week's theme for the Virtual Book Club is all about classic stories, so I decided to make a bear themed game to go with the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears!

Board games are really popular here, and I've been working on a snail themed one for the older kids, so I knew I needed a preschool-aged game for the younger kids soon. This one is perfect!

And the best part is that it really is no prep--you just have to print it off, and you're set! Well, you do have to find a die and some markers or playing pieces too.

Actually, here's a funny story...we just moved about 2,000 miles and had a baby (have you noticed how much less I've been online during the last two months?!). Anyway, when I made this game, I was going to use our bear counters as the playing pieces. I thought it would be perfect since it's a bear themed game, after all! But the bear counters were NOT in the bin I expected! I think someone was putting away/sorting boxes for me, and they put the bear counters somewhere that I am just not figuring out...and nobody seems to know where that somewhere is! Luckily, we have lots of other colored small objects, so we played with some square math manipulatives.  Hopefully I can find the bear markers and take more pictures...I just think the game will be so cute with them!

Anyway, this game lets your kiddos work on counting, subitizing, pattern recognition, 1-to-1 relationship, and taking turns. I am also constantly entertained when they land on a bear and run around the room! You really can't help laughing! And it's the perfect length game for preschoolers--it only takes about 10 minutes to play.

I suggest printing it on cardstock and gluing it to a file folder for safe keeping. You can make a whole collection of preschool-friendly games by gluing them to file folders and storing them in a filing bin box.
