LEGO Engineering Preschool Challenge 3 (STEM): Pet

Our third LEGO Engineering Preschool Challenge is here!

Were you here for our first  and second LEGO Engineering Preschool Challenges?  It's a wonderful way to invite your kiddos to build something! In case you missed them, here's the first LEGO STEM Preschool Challenge and the second LEGO STEM Preschool Challenge!

I've always considered physics and engineering branches of science.  As your children work through this challenge, they are engaging loads of science processing skills, including questioning, observing, hypothesizing, experimenting, analyzing, problem solving, and evaluating.  They are using math skills like measuring, comparing, adding, and subtracting.  And, they are doing it on a level that is precisely adapted to their capabilities because they are leading the construction themselves!  At the same time, they are gaining confidence that they can be successful creators and problem solvers!

Today's challenge uses their creativity and imagination!  Challenge your kiddos to create a pet!  What kind of pet is it?  Does it have a name?  Can it do any special tricks?  Have a pet show and tell when everyone is done!

This adorable duck was the first thing my 5-year old made from a new set of basic LEGO bricks we got this spring. "Ducky" kept watch over our activities for over a month!

Do your kiddos love LEGOS?  Then check out my {FREE} Penguin LEGO counting mat and spelling/reading activity! Also, be sure to pop back and see our other LEGO preschool challenges coming up!

Happy Educating, Carla

I may share at any of these parties!
